Hollow

People,  are sometimes as hollow as straws. One thing I can never understand,  is how they come up with conversations in such perfunctory manners. It is as if one’s outer appearances or small actions are really that interesting. Or even worth hours of talk. When people talk about more thought inducing, intriguing things such as scientific and philosophical matters, they are judged harshly and mocked. Why is talking about such subjects considered a taboo, when they are obviously much less superficial than the common talk?

One takeaway from such dialogues is that their responses are never genuine as well. People often say what others want to hear. “I love your hair today!” Instead of what they really think, “Your previous hair color is better on you. ”

Why do humans thrive towards only the skin-deep surface of things? Why do we not probe deeper and reflect on more genuine, opinionated conversations?

I believe that the society will be less shallow and definitely a much better place for everyone with such a change. Superficial human labels will definitely not be in use anymore if we can all learn to view things and people more for their opinions and not for their exteriors.

However, will this be possible? It seems that the lack-of-depth, the minimalistic view is one trait innate in the human nature. Even I learnt to interact in the same fashion as others. I even enjoy it at times; the feeling of fluff; just groundless, baseless talk. To pointlessly converse, without any thoughts or words in my head.

I can only hope for things to take a turn for the better.
